The 2024 Fox River Classic Conference Track and Field Meet was held at Green Bay Preble on Tuesday, May 14. De Pere repeated as the Champion on the boys side and for the girls it was Bay Port who won their 4th consecutive title. This was the ninth time that the Bay Port girls have claimed the FRCC Championship since the inception of the conference.

Seven records were set in Tuesday’s meet, four on the boys side and three on the girls side. Danika Apple of Notre Dame Academy set two records in the girls competition. Apple now holds the record in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.87 seconds set in the 100 meter Dash finals. This was the second time in the meet Apple broke the the 100 meter dash record as she ran a time of 11.96 seconds in the preliminaries. (old record – 12.05 seconds by Simba Laaro of Green Bay Southwest in 2010). Apple also set the record in 200 meter dash finishing in 24.93 seconds. (old record – 25.26 by Tessa Campbell of Manitowoc Lincoln in 2023) The final record set in the girls meet was set by Thea Kral in the discus. Kral had a throw of 148’3” besting a mark that had been held by Erin Dunning of Ashwaubenon of 137’7” in 2017.

The boys meet saw four records set. Grady Lenn of De Pere posted a new mark to beat in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:15.43. The old record was held by McKena Ramos of Sheboygan South set in 2012 at 4:17.81. De Pere triple jumper Andrew Cartier now claims the record in the triple jump with a jump of 47’6.25”. Cordell Tinch of Bay Port held the previous mark of 47’ set in 2017. Another field record was set in the pole vault with Augustus Counard Ciechanowski of Green Bay Preble clearing 15’1”, besting the previous mark of 15’ held by Lucas Thibert of Bay Port set in 2022. The final record in the boys meet was set by the Ashwaubenon 4 x 200 meter relay team. Pierce Foley, Gus Newel, Jacob McVane and Noah Platten carried the baton twice around the track in 1:29.95 to break the previous record of 1:30.45 set in 2014 by Sheboygan North (Baea, Griessmeyer, Klauck and Schrader).

The Meet also saw athletes win multiple titles with Pierce Foley of Ashwaubenon and Danika Apple of Notre Dame Academy being three time champions. The multiple winners include:

Boys meet

  • Pierce Foley (Ashwaubenon): 100 meter dash, 4 x 100 meter relay and 4 x 200 meter relay.
  • Gus Newel (Ashwaubenon): 4 x 100 meter relay and 4 x 200 meter relay.
  • Jacob McVane (Ashwaubenon): 4 x 100 meter relay and 4 x 200 meter relay.
  • Noah Platten (Ashwaubenon): 4 x 100 meter relay and 4 x 200 meter relay.
  • Ryan Lang (Sheboygan North): 800 meter run and 4 x 800 meter relay.
  • Grady Lenn (De Pere): 1600 meter run and 3200 meter run.
  • Casey Trousil (De Pere): 400 meter dash and 4 x 400 meter relay.
  • Andrew Cartier (De Pere): Long Jump and Triple Jump

Girls meet

  • Danika Apple (Notre Dame Academy): 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash and 4 x 100 meter relay.
  • Lily Urben (Pulaski): 300 meter hurdles and 4 x 200 meter relay.
  • Gabrielle Haller (Green Bay Preble): 800 meter run and 4 x 800 meter relay.
  • Tessa Campbell (Manitowoc Lincoln): 400 meter dash and 4 x 400 meter relay.
  • Jillian Anderson (Bay Port): 100 meter high hurdles and long jump.
  • Thea Kral (Ashwaubenon): Shot put and discus.

In addition to determining the FRCC Championship in Track and Field, the meet is also how all-conference is determined. The first place in each event is considered First Team All-conference, second place is Second Team All-conference and third place is Honorable Mention. The All-conference teams can be accessed at the following links. The Track Athlete of the Year, Field Athlete of the Year, and Coaching Staffs of the Year are to be determined as they are decided at the end of season coaches meeting.

Next up for Track and Field is the tournament series which begins with the Regional Meets being held on Monday, May 20 and the Sectional Meets being held on Thursday, May 23. The State Meet is held on Friday and Saturday, May 31 and June 1 at La Crosse.
