How to get public access to New Jersey eCourts? ›

First-time users must register with the New Jersey Courts to access the civil case system. If you already have a user ID and password to access eCourts, Evidence Submission, Judiciary Electronic Document Submission (JEDS) or Municipal Case Resolution, you must use those credentials.

If you cannot locate your firm ID, call 609-421-6100 for help.

If you do not have the ticket, you can call the municipal court in the city or town where you got the ticket. If you do not know where the ticket was written, you can call 609-421-6100 . Court staff can help you find your ticket using your driver's license number.

Special Civil Part trials and most Family matters will be in person. Effective March 1, 2023, initial hearings for involuntary civil commitments will also be in person. Shorts, t-shirts, uniforms or clothing containing statements or offensive symbols are not permitted. All hats must be removed when in a courtroom. Comfortable clothing is also advisable.

New Jersey Process Serving Requirements

Summonses shall be served together with a copy of the complaint, by the sheriff, or by a person specially appointed by the court for that purpose, or by plaintiff's attorney or the attorney's agent, or by any other competent adult not having a direct interest in the litigation.

The file size limit is 35MB. Larger files must be broken up into smaller files for uploading. You cannot upload evidence or discovery documents. If you have questions about what to file, you can email or call your local court ombudsman for help.

Search court records: New Jersey Superior Court records are public documents. You can visit the Superior Court in the county where the restraining order may have been issued and request to view the court records.

A Judiciary Records Request form must be filled out and sent to the court with the appropriate fee will be necessary to obtain a disposition. A disposition with the raised seal has a $10.00 fee, without the raised seal is $5.00.
