Attention all boxing enthusiasts! A highly anticipated match-up is on the horizon, and it's a doozy. The clash between Sebastian Fundora and Keith Thurman is back on, and it's going to be a thrilling addition to Manny Pacquiao's undercard in January.
After a training injury delayed their initial bout, Fundora and Thurman have found a new date for their highly anticipated title fight. But here's the twist: it won't be a pay-per-view main event, which might come as a surprise to some.
According to Mike Coppinger, the fight is now scheduled to be part of Pacquiao's undercard in late January. Pacquiao has confirmed a fight date of January 24th in Las Vegas, although Coppinger suggests it could be pushed back a week.
The card is shaping up to be a real treat for boxing fans. Many are speculating that Pacquiao will face off against WBA welterweight champion Rolly Romero, but the official announcement is yet to be made.
Fundora, the WBC super welterweight titleholder, will defend his belt against Thurman, who has an impressive record of 31-1 with 23 knockouts. This fight marks Thurman's return to the ring after a long absence, with his last fight being in 2022.
And this is the part most people miss: the potential for an even bigger surprise. The fight between O'Shaquie Foster and Stephen Fulton for Foster's WBC super featherweight title could also be added to this card. If this happens, it would create an incredibly strong PBC pay-per-view event, which is a rare treat for boxing enthusiasts.
So, while the initial postponement might have been a disappointment, it seems like the new date could work out even better for fight fans.
