Not appropriate for kids.

This movie is based off of Marylin Monroe’s life. Definitely not meant for children. The use of drugs is all through out the movie. Violence, while there is no guns in this movie there was a lot of violence within it such as Marylin’s mother attempting to drown her daughter, and the abortion scenes. Sex is all throughout the movie.

This movie is from the point of view of Marilyn's abusers. Her mother (who tries to drown her in a bathtub), casting directors (one her rapes her from behind at an audition in his office), two men from a class (who engage her in a threesome and ongoing relationship that, as I've read, is not supported by evidence of her life or the men's lives), etc. She's hit, raped, seduced, and objectified. I had to turn it off. I wouldn't let any child see this. It's dark. Nothing fun.

Disgusting

I thought it was disgusting! Watch the documentary instead, it’s much better! It’s a shameful portrayal of a woman’s life! The only reason I gave it one star, was that the actress put her heart in it!

RATED 18+ violence, sex, nudity, language, substances, sexual violence, child abuse, disturbing images, mature themes

The movie obviously failed to represent the struggling life of Marilyn Monroe; in-fact the director focused on sexually exploiting the young lady. The film focuses mainly on her sex-life and how weak she is repeatedly being. Her strengths and actual struggles as a “woman” have been ignored. Ana De Armas has done quite a fabulous work as an actress by showing emotional depth in her acting but that too is diluted by the darks and slow burn factors of movie that produce nothing more than nudity.

MM’s tragic life

I really liked this movie, I think it shows very well the tragic life that Marilyn had. The only complaint I have is that they didn’t show the moment she sang “Happy birthday” for president Kennedy. Also, it was a little slow sometimes. I liked this, but I think that some people may find it a little boring if they are not a MM fan or if they don’t know anything about her life.

Don’t waste your time.

This movie was…not good at all. The rating only gave me a heads up about “some sexual content” but nothing warning of domestic violence, rape, and full frontal nudity. In addition to all that, I’ve read reviews about how the movie was possibly meant to make us feel as disoriented and lost as Marilyn Monroe was but all I could feel was genuine discomfort for almost 3 hours, and annoyance that this movie was made in the first place.

This film is in my opinion absolutely not for anyone under 18. Full stop! It is rated NC-17 in the US and a hard R in Canada for sexual abuse material and explicit sex. It is illegal to sell or distribute this film to anyone who is under 18 years of age in most countries.

I thought the movie was great though very disturbing at times. Touches on heavy subjects such as parental abuse, sexual abuse, abandonment, abortion and more. Definitely not for anyone under the age of 17/18. As a parent I would recommend 18+.
