Ikigai - and finding meaning in LifeSince my old friend and colleague Tony Kelly brought Ikigai to my notice a few weeks ago, I've been rather taken in by it. The original thinking was to find the right combination of:*What you Love*What you are Good at*What the world Needs*What you can be Paid forWhilst there is still merit in this, and it's good to think these things through - and their intersection - I do like the article below, which makes it even simpler; It’s just about finding pleasure in life and being happy to get up in the morning, and living a life of 'Curiosity and Connection'.I encourage you to read it.https://lnkd.in/eWa3vw4h

I had been following "Ikigai" for years without knowing it....then I discovered it....it wouldn't be too strong to say that understanding the balance and fulfilment that Ikigai can offer has changed and continues to change my life!

I went foraging today! I embraced the age-old tradition, stepping into Southampton common (not even deep into the forest or anything!) to gather wild edibles. Not only did I come home with a basket full of nutritious, fresh ingredients, but I also took a small yet meaningful step toward sustainability. Foraging reduces our carbon footprint by eliminating the need for long-distance food transportation and the use of harmful pesticides and fertilisers. By choosing to harvest food from nature's bounty, for a moment I was contributing to the preservation of biodiversity and supporting the health of our ecosystems.Foraging also fosters a deep connection with the land and promotes community well-being. Sharing this experience with friends and neighbours strengthens our bonds and raises awareness about the importance of environmental stewardship. By integrating sustainable practices into our daily lives, we can collectively support several UN Sustainable Development Goals, from conserving life on land to promoting good health and well-being. Today’s foraging adventure was a reminder that mindful, local actions can have a profound impact on our planet’s future. This Spaceship Earth #Foraging #Sustainability #Biodiversity #ClimateAction #Community #UNSDGs
